Limit Teacher Assistant Positions?
Should we limit the number of TA positions for the 2005-06 School Year?
a. Raised as an issue by Exploratory teachers who believe that it is best for most student to take elective classes and question whether many TA positions are beneficial for the student.
b. Should 9th grade students be discouraged from Taing because it does not move the student toward graduation requirements such as Fine Arts, PE/Health or Occupational Ed?
c. Should we treat CLC Peer Tutor separately since they are working directly with special education students and the program depends on these students?
d. Should we limit Teacher Assistants to X per teacher? X per period?

We thought the peer tutors should remain. Only one t.a. per day per teacher sounded like a good idea. Although, we thought that other disciplines, such as P.E., might need more. We didn't think anyone should have two t.a.s the same period. --Diane for the English Dept.
PE Dept - Try to keep ta's to the minumum neded 1-2 a day per teacher. 9th graders should not elect to be a TA instead of taking pe unless they are injured.
Math- one TA per teacher, if they need more there can be exception , but explanations will be needed. Agreed that more than one TA per hour causes problems.
